At 25 I was in an on-again, off-again rollercoaster with my first love. Jordan was a charismatic, perfectly-rough-around-the-edges man with boyish good looks. We met in Orlando when I was 16 and reconnected months before my 23rd birthday when we both moved to New York.

For the first year and a half, the ride was smooth. We moved in together, spent holidays together, and for all intents and purposes, I attached myself to the idea that what we had was good.

But two days shy of our second Christmas together, I woke up in the middle night. They say women know when their partners are cheating and looking back, I do believe there was some sort of unworldly clairvoyance I had about his wrongdoings.

Supernatural or not, I found myself on his phone that night. In it, I found enough evidence of his transgressions to scar me for life.
